Take What You Have and Make What You Want!

Take What You Have and Make What You Want

The title above is an affirmation! “I will take what I have and make what I want.” That can include the lifestyle you’d like to have, an opportunity, your business, etc. In other words, taking lemons and turning them into lemonade! This affirmation sprung up from a conversation I was having with a business friend, CEO of Manifest Peace, Makayla Wood. We were talking about human nature and how sometimes people can become jealous of others that are growing. Our question was “why be jealous when the person that is receiving that energy, has gone through hell and back to receive what they’ve gotten?” We both said that to have gotten where we are now in life, we had to lose a lot and be stretched from our old selves to our new selves. It was beautiful but before then, ugly, and it was hard. We are sure that this is indeed how it started for anyone that now has a big name. We took the dirt that we lived through and cultivated it to plant seeds of greatness; hence, taking what you have and making the life that you want!

A very important story that I wanted to convey, there was a time in my life last year (2019) where I had to COMPLETELY start over my life. Fresh out of a relationship, now in a new home, with a new car and anew car note, lol. I was extremely uncomfortable and kind of scared. While getting used to the adjustment, I realized I've spent a lot of money to suit myself for my new home and I only had $50 left in my pocket. I wasn’t going to receive my check for another week, and this was not enough for food, gas, along with some other necessities I still needed along the way. I decided to bank on myself, on my gift that is. I had a lot of knowledge about skincare being that my Granny has taught me a lot from a young age-- how to take care of my dermatitis. What I did next FRIGHTENED me. I talked to my best friend in Memphis and told her the craziness I was about to get into. I told her I was going to spend the rest of what’s left on my name and see what I would get back. She told me she believed in me and for me to go for it. Shout out to Jazmin Withers! I went to the store and purchased skincare ingredients, some packaging material, and went to work over the next day or two. I tested out the ingredients day and night; to my sudden realization, my scrub and face mask does wonders on my skin! I proceeded to make packages and take promo pictures. Within a week and a half, I was sold out of multiple self-care packages and had flipped $50 into $200. My check was right around the corner, but the point here is I did it. God gave me a gift and it brought back the bread that I needed to sustain myself for the time I had left.

Seeds for You!:

  1. You don’t have to have it all together at one time, at least have 60-80% completion before you show it to the world!

  2. Appreciate where you are now! It's been proven over and over that, if you aren’t happy where you are now and constantly longing for more when you finally get what you want, nothing will change because you will not be suited with how to appreciate the accolade that you’ve earned.

  3. It doesn’t matter where you are, and it surely doesn’t matter where the next person is either. This is your story that is written for your timeline! Do your thang, and take your time!

Start where you are now, and pat yourself on the back for every achievement that you make here on out! It doesn’t matter if it is small or big, it is still progressing! I wish you the best on your new journey and remember to affirm, “I will take what I have, and make what I want!”

Love,
